Rosenheim, Jacob
(1870-1965)
   Orthodox leader, of German origin. He was born in Frankfurt am Main. He first worked in a bank, and later founded the Hermon Publishing House. In 1906 he transferred publication of the weekly Israelit from Mainz to Frankfurt where it became an influential organ of German Orthodoxy. He was a founder and leader of Agudat Israel, of which he was president from 1929. From 1940 he lived in the US and Israel; he helped to secure permission for Agudat Israel to participate in the Israeli government and Knesset. He wrote on various religious themes.
